1997 Villa Sparina Dolcetto d'Aqui d'Giusep

Opaque garnet. Slightly dumb initially but hints of chocolate and cherries with a bit of air - some alcohol, pepper and oak too. Light to medium bodied with a touch of fruit and bitter/sour chocolate and coffee notes. Quite acidic too but a much better wine than it sounds, with lovely balance and depth. Needs food and/or two to three years.
