1997 Obiers, Domaine de Pommard Epenots

Very dark purple, viscous. Warm and attractive nose of black cherries, damp earth and dried herbs - concentrated. Medium to full bodied with firm tannins, fresh acids, lovely bloody, earthy flavours. Complex, deep and rich, it is drinking well now with food but could do with time for the peppery new oak and alcohol to settle down. Spicy and delicious, drink in 5 to 6 years.
